The Kansas Air National Guard, Forbes Field, Topeka, KS requires renovation of existing Building 662 which is a multipurpose facility including three aircraft maintenance bays, multiple aircraft maintenance shops, supply warehouse, and multiple administrative functions. This project also includes renovation of Building 668 to convert it from industrial shop space to a Precision Measurement Equipment function. The major features of this project include, but are not limited to the following; replace/upgrade existing HVAC systems (boilers, piping, chillers, AHU's, VAV's, DDC controls, etc.), replace/repair fire suppression and detection systems, repair/replace electrical systems, replace communication systems, renovate/construct restrooms, renovate/construct shop areas, renovate/construct administrative areas, upgrade hangar bay areas (fall protection, overhead air/electric service, floor coating, paint, etc.), and repair/upgrade architectural finishes and features. The facilities will remain functional throughout the project, so construction will follow a phasing plan to allow continued operation, with planned disruptions. Anticipated dates to issue plans/specifications is O/A 30 June 1999, Pre-Bid Conference O/A 14 July 1999, and Bid Opening O/A 10 August 1999. Estimated cost of this project is between $5 and $10 million.
