The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk Detachment Washington intends to place a sole-source contract with Secur-Data Systems Inc. (SDS) (7340 Executive Way, Suite R, Frederick, MD 21704) on behalf of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). This contract will (1) replace an outmoded security badging system with the Year 2000 (Y2K) compliant WINIVS Windows Badging system and (2) upgrade the existing SMS5 Access Control/Alarm Monitoring System with the Y2K compliant SMS5 Host Multi-User Access Control/Alarm Monitoring System. SDS is the current maintenance contractor and previously installed the existing Electronic Security System. SDS is knowledgable of the existing system configuration and work necessary to complete the contract. Market research indicates that another vendor would be required to replace the entire system at a much higher price than the combination replacement/upgrade effort available from SDS. Delivery is required in late June or early July.
