Rich Mendez, mendezr@spawar.navy.mil. 1. The Space and Naval Warfare
Systems Command (SPAWAR), on behalf of the Communications Satellite
Program Office (PMW-146), Program Executive Officer, Space,
Communications and Sensors (PEO-SCS), intends to award multiple concept
study contracts in fiscal year 2000 for the Advanced Narrowband
Architecture (ANA) which includes the Mobile User Objective System
(MUOS). The ANA describes an advanced satellite communication system
that will satisfy joint mobile users' communication requirements with
an initial operational capability in CY 2007. 2. SPAWAR has made
available on its WEB Site a draft request for proposals (RFP) seeking
industry comment relative to the government's concept study
requirement. The Government anticipates releasing a formal RFP in early
July 1999. The current draft RFP and related documents may be viewed or
downloaded from SPAWAR's Business Opportunities Web Page (BOP) at
http://agena.spawar.navy.mil/command/02/acq/navhome.nsf. 3. To view or
download these documents, interested parties should refer to "FUTURE
OPPORTUNITIES" and solicitation number N00039-99-R-XXX3 for MUOS then
click on the "blue triangle" next to the solicitation number to view
available documents. Interested parties are encouraged to register and
subscribe to this solicitation, as they will receive e-mail
notification when new or revised documents are posted. Instructions for
registering are available on-line at this same web site. 4. Foreign
companies should note that they will not be able to register on line to
down load documents. However, they may call 619-537-0487 for more
information. 5. Comments from industry are requested by June 11, 1999
and can be submitted electronically to CDR Rich Mendez at
