A -- NONDESTRUCTIVE ANALYSIS (NDA) TECHNOLOGIES SOL CIT-IP:99-037 POC Laura Barber, Licensing Executive, Los Alamos National Laboratory, (505) 667-9266, e-mail: ljbb@lanl.gov E-MAIL: ljbb@lanl.gov, ljbb@lanl.gov. The University of California, which operates the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) under contract to the Department of Energy, solicits expressions of interest from companies that would like to pursue exclusive or non-exclusive license rights to commercialize, manufacture and market specific fields of use for new Nondestructive Analysis (NDA) technologies developed at LANL. The NDA technologies are a spectrum of techniques for: 1) imaging, at high speed, events taking place inside complex devices, 2) gathering real-time temperatures of surfaces (that can be moving) and 3) detection of crack formation in critical structures. The NDA technologies utilize state-of-the-art radiographic, thermographic and ultra sensitive magnetic detection technologies. The imaging technologies have the ability to look readily through aluminum and can image difficult to see gas, vapor and liquids materials. While diagnostics of automobile, jet and conventional aircraft engines are practical uses of the NDA technology, many other applications can be envisioned. Key elements of the technology are in the process of being patented. Any organization interested in licensing the NDA technology or in partnering with Los Alamos National Laboratory to develop the NDA technology for their specific application(s) must respond with a letter of intent. The letter should describe the organization's technical expertise, manufacturing and marketing capabilities, financial resources (e.g. Annual report or corporate resume), commercial motivation, willingness to support manufacturing operations in Northern New Mexico (if any), and a brief description of how the organization intends to commercialize the technology. Depending upon the specific application(s) of this technology, a collaborative arrangement with LANL may be needed to support this commercialization. For consideration, the letter of intent must contain all of the information requested above and must be postmarked within thirty (30) calendar days from the date that this notice firstappears in the Commerce Business Daily. Subsequently, Los Alamos will formally invite those companies that respond with a comprehensive letter of intent within the deadline, to provide additional information that will be used to evaluate and ultimately select the licensee(s) that will commercialize this technology. For questions or clarifications, contact Laura Barber, Licensing Executive, Los Alamos National Laboratory, (505) 667-9266, e-mail: ljbb@lanl.gov. Posted 05/25/99 (W-SN335261). (0145)
