Amendment of solicitation published in CBD on 5 Feb 99 -- Sale of standing timber under SIC 2411, located on Dare County Air Force Range, which consists of harvesting areas consisting of Sawtimber, Loblolly Pine, and mixed hardwood tree species. The sale area is located east of Dry Ridge Road, and south of the Navy lead-in road on the range, and is on flat ground with an organic litter layer of about 12 inches. The area is typical of cedar swamps with the water table at or near the surface most of the year. An estimate is furnished in determining quantities to be harvested; however, the Government gives no guarantee, expressed or implied, as to the total volume of stumpage, which may be harvested. The estimated volume is by species: Pine Sawtimber _ 565 mbf, Pine Pulp _ 94 cds, Maple Sawtimber _ 56 mbf, Hardwood Sawtimber _ 109.6 mbf, Hardwood Pulp _ 766.9 cds. The harvesting of trees under this contract shall be accomplished using logging equipment that is conventional for the local area. Low-pressure skidders equipped with wide tires or tracks should be used for ground and water table conditions that exist in the sale area. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be issued electronically o/a 25 May 99, on the Government_s Electronic Posting System (EPS) at www.eps.gov. Paper copies are not available.
