488-2639 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends
to negotiate with and award a contract to the American College of
Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), Department of Research, Washington,
DC. The award will be made on a sole source basis for professional
services under SIC code 8733 with size standard of $5 million average
annual receipts for the three fiscal years. The vendor will be required
to conduct a survey of a sample of approximately 1,000 ACOG members
residing throughout the United States. The survey should focus on the
members knowledge of the risk of transmission of toxoplasmosis, their
testing indications, interpretations of laboratory tests and actual
practices in terms of education, requesting of general diagnostic
serology and of confirmatory testing results. Also, the vendor will be
required to conduct a focus group consisting of practicing
obstetricians as to their attitudes and knowledge toward the
epidemiology and transmission and prevention of toxoplasmosis,
including but not limited to the participants' practices and opinions
on serologic screening and confirmatory diagnosis practices. Other that
full and open competition is authorized pursuant to 41 U.S.C.
253(c)(1),FAR 6.302-1. The minimum qualifications include, but are not
limited to the following: The vendor must have extensive experience in
conducting surveys of practicing obstetricians as to their knowledge of
infectious diseases and must have access to data base containing names
and addresses of all obstetricians in the United States. Qualified
vendors have 15 days from date of this synopsis to submit a capability
statement delineating their ability to provide these services. Such
qualifications will be used solely for the purpose of determinating
whether or not to conduct this procurement on a full and open
