CIRS Technical Engineering and Research Support -- Pre-Release of the Statement of Work (SOW), Announcement of a Pre-Solicitation Site Visit, and Establishment of an Electronic Reference Library. Pre-Release of the SOW: NASA is pre-releasing the SOW for continued support of the Composite Infrared Spectrometer (CIRS) Instrument onboard the Cassini spacecraft which was launched on October 15, 1997. The SOW is available on the World Wide Web (WWW). This pre-release is intended to provide industry with an understanding of the technical requirements of this procurement prior to the site visit. (Please note that the anticipated period of performance previously stated in the synopsis has been revised from 3 years to 4 years.) Pre-Solicitation Site Visit: A pre-solicitation site visit of the facilities is scheduled for all interested potential offerors prior to formal release of the Request for Offer (RFO). The date and time is June 4, 1999 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. The site visit will commence in the lobbyof building 2. Due to space limitations, it is suggested that each company limit participation to no more than 2 people. Please call Mary Stevens at 301-286-6993 by 4:00 pm on June 3 to confirm your attendence and provide the names of the attendees. This will be the only site visit conducted for this procurement; no make-up sessions will be held. Reference Library: In order to assist potential offerors in familiarizing themselves with the nature of the services required to support the Cassini CIRS instrument an electronic reference library has been established on the WWW. The library can be found at the following URL: http://genesis.gsfc.nasa.gov/CIRS/ERL.html General: NASA plans on issuing the formal RFO shortly after the scheduled site visit. This procurement will be conducted using mid-range procurement procedures found in part 1871 of the NASA FAR Supplement. This procurement is a small business set-aside. The SIC code and size standard are 8731 and 500 employees, respectively. The DPAS rating for this procurement is DO-C9. This is not a request for offers and will not result in a contract award.
