tto contact the contract specialist via, thomas.cox@dtra.mil. This
synopsis is FOR INFORMATION ONLY. Proposed contract effort supports the
development of improved models for the prediction of radioactive
fallout from nuclear weapon detonations. These improved models will
first be developed in the context of a first-principle hydrocode, and
later used to improve the fallout prediction module NWPN in the DTRA
HPAC PC-based collateral effects prediction tool. The overall objective
of the proposed program is to improve the accuracy of predictions of
collateral effects from nuclear fallout for a variety of nuclear burst
scenarios. THis objective will be accomplished by first improving the
modeling of fallout particle formation in the first-principles MAZe
code. An integral part of the effort involves modifications to the MAZe
computational fluid dynamics code, which Titan Corporation developed
under DTRA sponsorship. Making these modifications requires an intimate
knowledge of MAZe and only Titan Corporation possesses such expertise.
DTRA has determined that Titan possesses unique expertise in the
design and fielding of laboratory experiments involving particulates.
DTRA intends to award a sole source contract to Titan Corporation for
the above services on the basis that DTRA has determined that only
Titan Corporation possesses the prerequisite knowledge and background
for satisfactory performance. This synopisis is for informtion purposes
