DAAB07-99-R-D380 DUE 063099 POC POC: Mary Roebuck, Contract Specialist,
732-532-4602, Robert Reagan, Contracting Officer, 732-532-1530 US Army
CECOM intends to negotiate with Bren-Tronics, Inc., of Commack, NY for
a one-year extension of Contract DAAB07-95-D-G323 from 30 September
1999 through 29 September 2000. This is an Indefinite Delivery type
contract for rechargeable batteries -- BB-390A/U, BB-388A/U, BB-2847/U,
BB-516A/U and BB-503A/U and the related changing equipment. This
extension is needed to maintain a source of supply for requirements
while a new competitive contract is awarded in FY-2000 and first
deliveries are received. Bren-Tronics, currently the only source to
deliver the required supplies to the US Army rechargeable battery
program possesses all technical rights to the charger system and
batteries. Additionally the contract will be modified to add two types
of rechargeable batteries, the BB-557 and BB-2600, with their charging
adapters and the "Charger on the Move", items that were not included in
the basic awarded contract. Although these items have been in low
demand, a stock shortage of the related primary batteries, BA-5570 and
BA-5600 has led to some current demand for the rechargeable versions
for which only Bren-Tronics can provide a compatible charging system.
The "Charger on the Move", Bren-Tronics" P/N BTC-70440 was developed
under competitive contract DAAB07-97-C-G018, for which they were the
sole offeror. This charger will provide forward vehicle charging, a
critical ability that must be present now on the battlefield. No other
such charger could be proved out and delivered sooner than November of
2000. Note 22. Posted 06/01/99 (W-SN337595). (0152) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0292 19990603\61-0005.SOL)
