(202) 219-6445 The U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor
Statistics (BLS), has a requirement for a contractor to manage the
National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 79 and the National Longitudinal
Survey of Women. The contractor will be required to assist the BLS
with the coordination with other Federal agencies, with other NLS
survey organizations, and with the use of the NLS by the research
community. The contractor will also be required to design and develop
questionnaires; prepare OMB clearance documents; collect survey data
for the Youth 79; perform data creation, cleaning, and documentation;
perform data program and package maintenance; prepare CD-ROMs for BLS
and for public use; provide public user services; develop the data
base; provide descriptive analyses covering the cohort; and engage in
methodological studies relevant to the project. The Census Bureau has
performed the survey data collection and the data reduction for the
four original cohorts since 1966. The Census Bureau will continue to
perform the survey data collection and the data reduction for the NLSW
through an interagency agreement with the Department of Labor. Those
Census performed duties are therefore excluded from the proposed
contract; however, all other functions mentioned above associated with
the NLSW will be the responsibility of the contractor. The proposed
contract is anticipated to be awarded about September 1, 1999 and run
through November 15 of 2003. Offerors must submit written requests for
the solicitation and those requests must reference the solicitation
number (RFP L/A 99-18). Requests may be faxed to (202) 219-6853. Please
do not send a duplicate request in the mail. The Government will
consider proposals from all responsible vendors. There will be one
award. See Numbered Note 26. Posted 06/01/99 (I-SN337496). (0152) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0014 19990603\B-0004.SOL)
