An HRS provides a historical overview of a park area and identifies and evaluates a park's cultural resources within regional and national historic contexts. It includes the collection, evaluation, synthesis, and presentation of data and research findings on the history themes and historic resources of a park area. The study will help complete the basic documentation of the park's story and resources by providing a synthesis of primary and secondary source material pertinent to the Riverway. The information contained in the historic resource study is essential for present and future interpretation and cultural resource management. This study shall integrate research and a draft chapter on the recreation theme, prepared recently by the National Park Service, into a complete historic resource study.
