Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) for a Women-Owned Business (WOB) Showcase this June. The Volpe Center is supporting a Department of Transportation initiative to outreach to the women-owned small business community by conducting outreach sessions with women-owned small business concerns. The purpose of this showcase is to provide a forum for meeting one another, for the women-owned small businesses to highlight their respective capabilities, and for the Volpe Center to provide information on programs that provide procurement opportunities. In order to showcase capabilities, participants may give a five-minute presentation highlighting their corporate capabilities as they relate to the Volpe Center s mission; however, present ations will be limited to the first 15-20 companies who request this opportunity. A break-out room will be made available for one-on-one discussions with Volpe Center personnel, and may also be used to provide informational materials on your company. The June Showcase will be held at in the auditorium of the DOT/RSPA/Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, 55 Broadway, Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA 02142 on June 22, 1999. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The Showcase will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude at noon. The agenda is as follows: introduction and brief overview of DOT s Small Business Programs; overview of Volpe Center Programs; information on possible procurement opportunities; presentation on Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program and opp ortunities available for women-owned small businesses; and brief review of the new SBA regulations related to small disadvantaged and women-owned businesses; capabilities briefing by participants; question and answer session; and demonstration of the Volpe Center s internet site and the Small Business Administration s PRO-Net site.
