Petroleum & Water Business Area of the US Army TACOM-TARDEC in Warren,
MI is requesting expressions of interest from industries and
organizations that are able to develop or produce Advanced Aviation
Forward Refueling System (AAFARS. The AAFARS is a four-point refueling
system that provides filtered fuel at a rate of 55 gallons per minute
(gpm) to each of four nozzles simultaneously. The system shall contain
hoses, couplings and nozzles in sufficient quantity to provide for four
refueling points at a 100 feet separation between nozzles. The AAFARS
shall be manually carried from the transport aircraft to the selected
refueling site. The refueling operations shall take place in all
environmental conditions possible to operate rotary wing aircraft
including total darkness. The AAFARS shall be deployed on a terrain in
which it is possible to land rotary wing aircraft. The AAFARS is
designed to fulfill the urgent requirements for forward "hot" refueling

you have any questions. This is an important opportunity for you to
influence the solicitation provisions and contract clauses, our budget
requests, and the full range of other elements supporting the
acquisition strategy for this program. Ultimately we may award a
contract for approximately 75 units. The U.S. Army will retain all
information and documentation provided. The effort you expend and
information you submit in response to this request shall be provided at
no cost to the Government. Any information submitted under this effort
