The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Coastal Systems Station, Panama City, Florida, is seeking sources for equipment with the capability of preparing remote underwater/marine surfaces for reliable adhesive bonding. The surface preparation process must be functional when used in extreme environmental conditions such as seawater from 100 degrees Fahrenheit down to 29.5 degrees Fahrenheit. The equipment must be capable of being transported, handled and operated efficiently by a single free-swimming diver without surface support or surface supplied power. It is the intent of this announcement to determine existing leading edge, current state-of-the-art equipment or to determine non-standard technology that may have application for the Navy's underwater/marine surface preparation needs. Both off-the-shelf systems and promising developmental approaches will be considered. Written material should be limited to between 5 to 10 pages, exclusive of brochures.
