COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 7,1999 PSA#2361U.S. Department of Commerce/National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration/OFA/AGFS/AMD -- OFA51, 1305 East West Highway -- Station
7604, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910 A -- FUTURE GEOSTATIONARY WEATHER SATELLITE INSTRUMENT DEVELOPMENT:
GOVERNMENT BRIEF TO INTERESTED FIRMS POC Edward F. Tennant, Jr.,
Contracting Officer, 301/713-0823 On June 23, 1999, NOAA will host a
day-long series of briefings describing results of its on-going
requirements, concept-design, and risk-reduction studies related to its
future geostationary weather satellite instrument development. Agency
representatives, along with engineers from three federally-funded
research and development centers, will present findings of instrument
design efforts for interested industry representatives. The briefings
will be held in NOAA's Silver Spring Metro Center Complex, Building 2
(SSMC2, Room 2358), 1325 East West Highway, Silver Spring Maryland,
from 9:00AM until 4:30 PM. This forum is offered for potential future
spacecraft instrument developers to learn more about NOAA's plans for
eventual procurement of imagers and atmospheric sounders for its
operational GOES system. NOAA anticipates that acquisition of these
instruments, the advanced baseline imager and advanced baseline sounder
(ABI/ABS), will begin as early as fiscal year 2000. Due to space
considerations, attendance will be restricted to four representatives
from any one commercial entity at the June 23rd meeting. However, on
Thursday June 24, also in Silver Spring, NOAA will host 50-minute
private sessions with any interested industry representatives wishing
to discuss questions that may have proprietary relevance. NOAA will not
use these private sessions to cover any general material presented on
June 23rd. To reserve attendance at either the general session on June
23rd, or to make an appointment for a follow-up private session,
interested parties must submit a request no later that June 16th to
Roger Heymann at telephone 301-457-5125 extension 103 or e-mail
Roger.Heymann@noaa.gov. You will receive an agenda for the meeting and
details for travel to the Silver Spring facility following receipt of
your request. The Government will not award a contract based on this
CBD notice. The Government will not reimburse parties who attend the
meeting(s) on June 23rd and/or June 24th or otherwise respond to this
CBD notice; provided, however, that costs properly chargeable under
Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Section 31.205-18, "Independent
Research and Development and Bid and Proposal Costs," may be allocated
to Government contracts consistent with the terms of such contracts.
