827-7177 The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) intends to award a
purchase order on or about June 21, 1999 to Johns Hopkins University's
Center for Vaccine Safety (CVS), on a sole-source basis to provide
research in a pilot study to access the possible role of immunologic
factors in persons who develop multiple sclerosis after hepatitis B
vaccine. The task involved will be: the recruitment of subjects and
data collection and a laboratory analysis to determine the reactivity
of the subjects' T-cells to Myelin Basic Protein and Hepatitis B
vaccine antigens will be developed and conducted on 30 subjects in a
blinded fashion. Authority for this non-competitive acquisition is
found at FAR 13.106-2(a) (5). This notice is not a request for
quotations; however, interested parties may identify their interest and
capability to satisfy the Governments requirement no later than the
response date the response date. Capability statements must include
documentation of an in-depth knowledge and prior experience of this
type of work. A determination by the Government not to compete this
proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely
within the discretion of the contracting officer. A solicitation
