NASA/HQ NASA plans to issue a modification for one six-(6) month extension, with three (3) additional one-month options, on a sole source basis to Boeing Information Services Corporation. This procurement will extend the period of performance under contract NASW-4962 for an additional 6 months beyond the current end date of the contract (10/31/99). The estimated value of the 6 month extension is $16.4 million. The total estimated value of all options is $6.9 million. This critical extension is required to maintain support for Information Resources and Management Support to ensure that there is no disruption in critical support as NASA Headquarters implements Y2K compliance. The government is contemplating several alternative approaches to acquiring follow-on services, including the use of an existing Government Wide Agency Contract (GWAC). The follow-on acquisition will be synopsized and posted on the World Wide Web (WWW) when it is released (currently scheduled for the fourth quarter, FY99). The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. Interested firms have 15 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 15 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
