COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 8,1999 PSA#2362DO CHANGES TO PC02 ALTER CORAL CALCIFICATION? The U.S. Department of
Energy's Federal Energy Technology Center (FETC), Morgantown, WV,
intends to award a fixed-priced purchase order to Nova Southeastern
University, Dania, FL, for research entitled "Do Changes to pC02 Alter
Coral Calcification?" The objective of this work is to use existing
well studied coral skeletal material to help determine the potential
effect of a greater oceanographic pCO2 on future coral growth and
calcification, and upon the health of coral reefs in general. This
purchase order is being issued to Nova Southeastern University as the
University and its researchers are Internationally-known coral experts,
and as such have the capacity to immediately step in and have an impact
on this project. The University has unique research experience in the
documentation and demonstration of coral dendrology and correlated it
with coral growth periods over 200 years. This request is considered to
be sole source to Nova Southeastern University. Therefore, no
solicitation will result from this announcement. This award shall be
made using simplified acquisition procedures. Requests for information
