Monday, June 7, 1999 the United States Postal Service, Windsor
Facilities Service Office, 6 Griffin Road North, Windsor, CT will issue
a solicitation for the upgrade of Elevators 1 and 2 at the General Mail
Facility, 25 Dorchester Avenue, Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.
Sealed offers are due on or before Tuesday, July 13, 1999 no later
than 4:00 p.m. EST. Along with a price proposal, contractors must
include proof of a minimum of ten (10) years experience with this type
of work and include five related references. There will be a
preproposal meeting held on Wednesday, June 16, 1999 beginning at 10:00
a.m. in Room B27A of the Boston General Mail Facility to review the
project specifics. THERE WILL BE NO PUBIC OPENING OF THE PROPOSALS AND
THE RESULTS OF THE ADVERTISEMENT WILL NOT BE PUBLISHED UNTIL AWARD OF
THE PROJECT. Work includes, but is not limited to, providing all
materials, labor and equipment required to provide all necessary tools,
equipment, supplies and labor to perform demolition and removal of two
existing freight elevators and provide new freight elevators
inclusive, but not limited to, all controls, ropes, rails, guides,
safeties, governors, cabs, interior finishes, detectors, alarms and
other as specified in plans and specifications. ONLY ONE ELEVATOR MAY
BE WORKED ON AT A TIME AND ONE ELEVATOR MUST ALWAYS REMAIN IN SERVICE.
Contractor may be asked to defer work on second floor elevator during
specific period November 1, 1999 through December 31, 1999. The
estimated cost of construction is between $1,175,000.00 and
$1,225,000.00 with construction completion no later than 460 calendar
days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Technical inquiries are to be
