Iwanicki, iwanicki@pica.army.mil. 13 -- XM992, 40MM Infrared Illuminant Cartridges fired in the M203 Grenade Launcher System for the Product Manager, Small Arms (PMSA), in support of the US Navy in include load, assemble, pack, and test facilities capable of supporting the manufacture of 40,000 40MM Infrared Illuminant Cartridges. The XM992 is fired from the 40MM M203 grenade launcher, and is similar in design and function to the 40MM M583A1 White Star Illuminant Cartridge. The present XM992 Technical Data Package (TDP) requires the acquisition of DLQ-152 infrared composition, a proprietary mix developed and currently available only from Thiokol Corp.
