TACOM-ARDEC is seeking potential sources to make modifications to the XM93E1 Wide Area Munition (WAM) so that it will be compatible with the future Intelligent Combat Outpost -- Raptor. The internal modifications to the WAM are as follows: 1)Modify the WAM Ground Sensor Operating System (GSOS) to forward target tracking information through the WAM's receiver/transmitter to the Raptor Gateway and act on commands sent by the Gateway; 2)Modify the WAM receiver/transmitter and network radio protocol to a)operate with the Raptor Gateways, when present, b)provide the capability for ten (10) WAMs to communicate with the Gateway in a second, c)provide the capability for the WAMs to receive messages from the Gateway in the same second, d)provide a backup mode so that other gateways can operate the field if the primary gateway fails, i.e. 20 WAMs per gateway in backup mode, and e)remain compatible with the WAM Product Improvement Program's (PIP) current radio protocols; and 3)Modify the WAM to provide azimuthpointing data to the gateway. Since the XM93E1 is currently under engineering development, design documentation describing describing the GSOS software, WAM receiver/transmitter, or the network protocol is incomplete and therefore can not be made available. Deliverables will be an updated WAM system specificiation, an Interface Control Document describing the interface between the WAM and the Raptor Gateway and design documentation detailing the changes to the GSOS, WAM receiver/transmitter and network protocols.
