The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC is planning to modify Contract DAAE30-97-C-1077 on a sole source basis with PRIMEX Technologies, Inc. St. Petersburg, Florida for a one time effort to manufacture, test and evaluate single and double-base Ball Powder propellants (M38, M47) for the 60mm, 81mm and 120mm mortar systems, using an environmentally friendly stabilizer, Ethyl Centralite (EC) as a substitute for Diphenylamine (DPA). In addition this effort will incorporate Pollution Prevention (P2) into the production processes by eliminating the use of DPA. This is a one (1) year effort to be executed in three (3) phases. The first phase will cover manufacture, laboratory study and stabilizer life testing. The second phase will involve performance testing.
