WC3, 7600 Sand Point Way NE, Bin C15700, Seattle, WA 98115-0070 B -- KRILL DEMOGRAPHY AND ZOOPLANKTON COMPOSITION STUDIES OF THE U.S.
ANTARCTIC MARINE LIVING RESOURCES (AMLR) PROGRAM SOL 52ABNF900061 DUE
071999 POC POC: Kristina R. Rodabaugh, (206) 526-6379, for copy of
solicitation call (206) 526-6425) CORRECTION TO CBD OF 060399 NOAA's
National Marine Fisheries Service has a requirement for krill
demography and zooplankton composition studies to be accomplished
during a research cruise in the vicinity of the South Shetland Islands,
Antarctica, during the months of January, February, and March, 2000.
The cruise will consist of two 30-day legs, with port calls (2-3 days
in duration) in Punta Arenas, Chile, before and after each leg. At
least two experienced workers are required for each cruise leg to
conduct the studies. The objectives of the studies include: (1)
description of the population structure and biological characteristics
of krill collected throughout the AMLR study area and over the
duration of the cruise; and (2) interpretation and correlation of krill
data with information on phytoplankton biomass, primary production,
circulation pattern, and water mass boundaries; (3) identification of
macro-zooplankton and micro-nekton from all net samples obtained during
the cruise surveys; and (4) description, interpretation, and comparison
of zooplankton composition and abundance within each season and between
seasons. All interested concerns may request a copy of the RFP and
submit proposals which will be considered by the Government. Posted
