COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 9,1999 PSA#2363U.S. DOT SEEKS LOCATIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN ITS STANDARDS TESTING
PROGRAM The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is testing
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Standards that have been
published or are currently under development. A team led by DOT is
currently soliciting candidate test sites to volunteer to participate
in the ITS Standards Testing Program. The objective of this effort will
be to establish a testing program that can be beneficial to all
involved. Several criteria have been developed to identify test sites
that will yield accurate and correct results. The team will examine the
candidate sites for their use of ITS standards and will select sites
where opportunities for meaningful tests are maximized. Public and
private sector representatives which have candidate test sites to offer
for this program are encouraged to contact the team project manager.
Site selection criteria and a contact point for further information can
be accessed on the U.S. DOT's ITS Standards Web Page at
