SSA/OAG, JOAN.BERMAN@ssa.gov. The Social Security Administration (SSA),
seeks a contractor to conduct a pilot program that would enhance
opportunities through providing a program of supports, for young
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients with disabilities, to
assist them in becoming gainfully employed. The purpose of this
initiative is to assess the impact of a more proactive approach on the
successful transition of 15- 17 year old SSI recipients from school
and/or the SSI disability rolls to work. For this project, the
contractor will be responsible for the referral of participants to the
State VR system or to alternate participants, either directly or
through agreements with the relevant State Agencies and SSA. This pilot
will be conducted in one or two States where there is sufficient SSI
population in the 15-17 year old range. Another factor is if there are
interested DDS's, and there are a sufficient number of providers
willing and able to work with the pilot population. The Government
intends to award a contract, with a period of performance of base year
(twelve months) with two, one year option periods if exercised. All
requests must be in writing. Requests may be faxed to 410-966-9310. No
phone requests will be accepted. Proposals from all responsible
sources will be accepted. Respondents should refer to synopsis no.
