Command (NAVAIR) intends to negotiate with Bell-Boeing Joint Venture
Team, on an other than full and open competitive basis, for the
procurement of engineering and technical support for the V-22 avionics
and flight controls system. This support includes providing
engineering and technical information and support regarding potential
configuration changes to the V-22 aircraft, variants and avionics and
flight controls as well as providing engineering and technical effort
to support resolution of avionics and flight controls technical
problems. The anticipated award date for this effort is November 1999.
The Bell-Boeing Team is the sole designer, developer and producer of
the V-22 tiltrotor aircraft. Bell-Boeing is the only known source that
possesses the engineering data, technical skills and requisite
knowledge of the design, fabrication, performance, operation,
maintenance and support characteristics of the V-22 tiltrotor aircraft
to provide the required engineering and technical support services.
