(HRSA) is soliciting proposals in accordance with the Negotiate
Contracts Procedures in Part 15 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations
(FAR). AWARDS RESULTING FROM THIS SOLICITATION ARE LIMITED TO ACADEMIC
INSTITUTIONS PROVIDING HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE PROVISIONS IN THE PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES ACT, SECTION 747. The
purpose of this procurement is to provide direction and oversight to
four independently funded research teams charged with developing
empirical evidence that documents and demonstrates that health
professions education in ambulatory care facilities adds value to
health care. The conceptual model for this coordinated study can be
found in "Understanding the Value Added to Clinical Care by Educational
Activities", December 31, 1998 and which will be made a part of the
solicitation package. The period of performance is one base year with
2 option years. Solicitation will be issued on or about June 23, 1999.
The closing date will be on July 23, 1999, at no later than 4:00 p.m.
