note availability of RFP documents, drawings and specifications in the
corrected notice as follows: The Smithsonian Institution is seeking
proposals to furnish all supervision, labor, materials and equipment
required for the selective demolititon and construction for the
renovation of the Anacostia Museum and Center for African American
History and Culture for the Office of Physical Plant Project Number
984604. The scope of work includes at a minimum: (i) selective
demolition; (ii) structural framing; (iii) concrete, masonry and
stonework, (iv) roofing; (v) elevator; (vi) architectural woodwork and
interior finishes; and (vii) modification of existing mechanical,
electrical, plumbing, fire protection and security systems. All firms
interested in submitting a proposal in reponse to this solicitation
must request copies of the Request for Proposals (RFP) bid documents.
Offerors shall be required to submit technical and price proposals and
shall be required to provide financial data to support pricing and
company viability. Offerors will be evaluated on their plan of
performance, references, subcontractors and subcontracting plan and
price. Offerors certifying as large businesses shall be required to
submit a subcontracting plan with emphasis on the maximum practical
usage of minority, disadvantaged and women owned businesses. A
pre-proposal site visit shall be held prior to the date for receipt of
bids. The date, time and location for the pre-proposal site visit
shall be in the request for proposal (RFP) documents. Offerors may
obtain the RFP documents on approximately June 14, 1999, and three sets
of drawings and specifications on approximately July 6, 1999, by
submitting a written request to Smithsonian Institution, Office of
Contracting, 955 L'Enfant Plaza, SW, Suite P-114, Washington, DC
20024-2119, Attn: Tandra Jones, Code 35. Written requests shall be on
company letterhead and contain full company name, complete street
address (PO boxes will not receive responses), telephone/FAX number and
the name of the person to be contacted. If this information is not
provided, the Smithsonian Institution accepts no responsibility for
mishandled requests. Requests may also be made by FAX (202) 287-2008,
Attn: Tandra Jones. FAX requests which are garbled, smeared or
otherwise illegible, may not receive responses. Additional drawings and
specifications may be obtained from Capital Technolographics Corp, 1015
Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20007 -- reference Project Number
984604, ADA and Life Safety Compliance, Anacostia Museum. The cost of
additional drawings and specifications shall be borne by the Offeror
and this cost is non-refundable. Offerors shall be required to provide
a bid guranty of 20% of offer and the successful Offeror must provide
a Performance Bond of 100% and a Payment Bond of 50% of proposed
price. After selection, no award will be made until approved bonding is
in place. The date and time for receipt of proposals shall be in the
RFP documents. The estimated cost of this project is between $4,000,000
and $5,000,000. All responsible sources may submit an offer, which will
