The National Data Buoy Center has a requirement for 30 each 90 foot shots of 1 " open link chain in accordance with NDBC 8005, Revision B dated 01/31/89 -- Standard Specification for Procurement of Open-Link Chain which will be included in the procurement package. The chain shall be manufactured of new steel and electrically welded. It shall be of the open link type. The chain shall be made of any standard, low-carbon (0.10 to 0.30 percent carbon content) steel of uniform quality conforming to the physical and chemical requirements of NDBC 8005. Nickel, chromium, or copper alloy steels are not acceptable. The contractor shall furnish a certificate of Conformance, either from the manufacturer or a reputable engineering laboratory, detailing the chemical composition, and tensile and yield strength properties for each lot of material used in the manufacture of chain offered for acceptance. The certificate shall include actual data of specified chemical and mechanical tests. The certificate shall also state the size and amount of steel ( in pounds of kilograms) represented by the tests. This certification that chain meets these requirement shall be provided at time of delivery or shipment will be rejected. All documentation shall be provided in English. Unless otherwise specified, all chain shall be composed of common links with an end link attached to each end in continuous 90 foot (15 fathom) lengths. This is a 100% small business set-aside.
