This is a Market Survey by the Army to seek input from commercial manufacturers of 64-bit UNIX servers and RISC based workstations in establishing future plat- form road maps. The platform road maps will be used by Army, Navy, and other Government agencies to develop the Maxi-Minis and Database-1 (MMAD-1) specification. The MMAD-1 is projected as a possible multiple award contract with two base years and three option years and a projected value of 540 million dollars. The Army's Request for Proposals (RFP) is projected for release early 2nd quarter of 2000 with award projected for early 3rd quarter of 2000. The MMAD-1 platforms will be specified to be compliant with the Technical Architecture Framework for Information Management (TAFIM) and Joint Technical Architecture-Army (JTA-A). The Government desires team members with technical backgrounds capable of addressing projected performance, scalability, availability, and functionality of their platforms in the April/May 2000 time frame. The MMAD-1 specification will not address Intel based servers since that requirement is being fulfilled with the Infrastructure Solutions-1 (IS-1) contract.
