The Cancer Information Service Branch (CISB), located in the Office of the Director, National Cancer Institute (NCI), is responsible for the operation of the national Cancer Information Service network (CIS), which includes regional CIS offices and the Publications ordering Service of the CIS. In addition, CISB oversees for the NCI the preparation of responses to written, e-mail and telephone inquiries about cancer and requests for educational materials from patients and family members, the general public, health professionals, students and educators. CISB is responsible for the storage, inventory, and distribution of NCI publications and performs special mailing projects for NCI offices. The contractor shall support CISB by responding to requests to the NCI for information and publications and warehousing and distributing publications and materials on behalf of the NCI. The contractor shall operate the Publications Ordering Service component of the CIS. Another component of CISB support of the CIS network is the development, implementation, and maintenance of computer applications designed to increase CIS day-to-day operating efficiency. The contractor shall provide technical and administrative support for these computer applications. The anticipated solicitation issue date is on or before June 30, 1999. Proposals will be due approximately 30 days after the issue date. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code is 8741. It is anticipated that this will be a 5 year award.
