91 -- STORAGE FACILITIES FOR SPECIALITY DIESEL FUEL POC Neil Lynn telephone 410 293 9518 Sources are sought for storage of a 40 drum lot of a speciality diesel fuel. The material to be stored is a test blend distillate fuel (variation of Diesel Fuel #2) consisting of various hydrocarbon chemicals which may include less than 50 parts per million of benzene, has a flash point greater that 54 degrees C (130 degrees F) and is a class 3 hazardous material (flammable liquid). The material is contained in 40, standard 55-gallon steel drums. A copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet for this material is available upon request. The material is to be stored indoors, protected from the weather and other natural hazards. The storage facility must conform to Federal Standards for the storage of hazardous materials including fire protection and spillage containment. Temperature control in the facility must be such that the material will not be exposed to temperatures below 5 degrees C (41 degrees F) or above 30 degrees C (87 degrees F). The material shall be stored in such a manner that it will be accessible for annual, random sampling to be conducted by the government. The facility shall be located within a 200 mile radius of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, Philadelphia, Naval Business Center, Phildelphia, PA 19112-5083, and shall be accessible by over the road transport. Storage will be required for approximately one year.
