Survey/Sources Sought announcement seeking to identify potential
sources for Rebuild of one LeBlond-Carlsted Boring Lathe at Watervliet
Arsenal. The Installation Contracting Division, HQ, IOC is seeking
sources for a potential contract for the complete rebuild of the lathe.
Description of Machine: Watervliet Arsenal owned 1961 vintage
LeBlong-Carlsted, Single Ended, Rapid Boring, Lathe. the model number
of the equipment is 60RC and the serial number is 60RC508. It is a
single ended boring type,maximum bore diameter 2 3/8", counterbore and
trepanning diameter 4 1/4", boring length 66", workpiece length 88",
workpiece clamping diameter 12", swing over the clamping slide 13",
swing over the bed 17", spindle I.D. 3/4", spindle speed 60-2200 rpm,
way length 22", 2", bed length 24", 3/38", with a 50hp spindle drive
motor. Description of work effort: As a minimum, the rebuild will
consist of rebuild/replacement of the complete headstock system,
horizontal way surfaces, boring bar drive assy,lube system, hydraulic
system, and any ancillary equipment particular to the equipment. The
analytical alignments and accuracy of the equipment will be equal to or
better than that furnished by the OEM for the year of manufacture. The
scope of work will also include three complete copies of technical
documentation to support the as refurbished equipment within all the
applicable trades. There will also be a requirement for three days of
training of the applicable trades (operator, mechanical, and
electrical). Prospective sources are to furnish a brief listing of
materials, description of you standard rebuilding procedures, Scope of
Work, budgetary figures and references for rebuild/refurbishment of
like/similar equipment. At a later date you will be given the
opportunity to visually inspect the equipment prior to your final bid
proposal. This project will be funded with FY 2000 funds. This is not
a request for proposal or invitation for bid. A solicitation does not
exist at this point. Your response shall besubmitted to HQ, IOC, ATTN:
AMSIO-ACI-P/Chris Tindle, Rock Island, IL 61299-6000 not later than
