The Baltimore District, US Army Corps of Engineers, intends to award a sole source contract in an estimated amount of $75,000.00 to Dr. Bilal Ayyub, Professor and Director of the Center for Technology & Systems Management, Department of Civil Engineering, Unviersity of Maryland to finanize a State-of-the-Art Report (SAR) previously prepared in draft format on Risk Assessment and Dam Safety for Headquarters, US Army Corps of Engineers (HQUSACE), Washington, D.C. The first draft serves as a guide to HQ USACE in developing a risk management policy to ensure public safety and protect the national investment in infrastructure. This follow-on work will be to develop a second draft and final draft of the SAR addressing comments and suggestions from a USACE workshop. The contractor will be required to furnish all materials and perform all services required to review the proposed USACE models for assessing projects for dam safety and shall develop a recommended model based upon the basic approach outlined from the workshop. Interested firms will be required to become familiar with the already developed SAR and take responsibility for all existing work.
