Naval Air Systems Command intends to negotiate with Rolls-Royce Allison
Engine Company of Indianapolis, IN, for procurement of approximately 44
model T56-A-427 turbine engines to support E-2C production line
requirements. Additionally, the anticipated contract would include FMS
customer requirements of approximately 8 engines plus options for
approximately 7 spare engines and annual sustaining engineering.
Rolls-Royce Allison Engine Company is the sole manufacturer of the
T56-A-427 Turbine Engine for the E-2C aircraft and has a forty year
investment in the design, development, production and maintenance of
the T56-A-427. Rolls-Royce Allison Engine Company is the only source
with the data and technical capability required to produce T56-A-427
aircraft engines and provide comprehensive product support for these
engines. The Government does not own the required technical data
necessary to compete this requirement. This synopsis is for
