This project is a design/build contract necessary to design and construct an approximately 57,000 gross square foot expansion at the South Florida Processing and Distribution Center located on 16000 Pines Boulevard, in Pembroke Pines, FL 33082-9997. The project consists of furnishing manpower, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary for fast track to design and construct a 48,200 net sq. ft. building. The project includes partial demolition of existing building/equipment, utilities, landscaping, storm drainage, concrete sidewalk/pads, metal canopy, sprinkler system, etc., as required. The existing facility is approximately 272,783 net sq. ft. and was built in 1991. The expansion will be on the north side of the existing facility and will displace part of the support area on the existing north wall. The facility must remain fully operational at all times. Phasing of the work is necessary. The building expansion is a concrete slab on grade with foundations as required, steel structure, metal insulated deck with a EPDM roofing system, precast wall panels, etc. The existing facility's HVAC system, water and air, will have to be balanced when the building expansion is complete. Provide HVAC, compressed air, etc., systems, utilities, landscaping, storm drainage, concrete sidewalks/pads, sprinkler system, etc., at the above postal facility in accordance with plans and specifications. Errors and omissions insurance in the amount of $500,000 will be required. Technical Qualifications Evaluation is based on a 100-point total (Experience -- 40, Past Performance -- 30, Organization -- 25, and Backlog -- 5), and Management Plan Evaluation is based on a 100-point total (Construction -- 30 points, Design -- 25 points, Project Management -- 20 points, Schedule -- 15 points, and Procurement -- 10 points). Offers are due July 29, 1999, at 4 p.m. Performance time is 365 calendar days from receipt of notice to proceed. The estimated cost range is between $4.6 million to $5.4 million.
