The Naval Air Systems Command intends to modify contract N00421-99-C-1433 with Universal Propulsion Company (UPCO), Inc., a Wholly Owned Subsidiary of BF Goodrich, 25401 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85027-7899, to procure l solutions to improve ejection safety and survivability using inflatable restraint and stabilization technology. This program will operate concurrently with other ongoing developmental and investigative efforts with UPCO, Inc. to improve ejection safety and survivability for military aircrew. The objective is to apply a total systems engineering approach to improving current ejection seat restraint and stabilization subsystems. Specifically, this effort will analyze the potential for the implementation of inflatable restraint and stabilization technology utilizing UPCO's inflator system. Future intent is to apply those concepts which result in highest net performance increase to ejection seat applications, including the SJU-4/A, 13/A, and 14/A. See Note 22.
