Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Surface Gaging and Profiling System, to
include the following: ITEM 1: SURFACE MAPPING SYSTEM FOR OPTICAL
SENSING OF SURFACE CONTOURS AS PER THE SPECIFICATIONS AS FOLLOWS: The
Surface Gaging and Profiling System should meet the following
performance requirements: 1. Surface contour measurement system shall
measure three dimensional surface coordinates compatible for use in
numerical control machining. 2. System shall be capable of acquiring
surface profile into within 0.005 inch over a 2.5" field of view width,
within 0.002 inch in depth surface resolution, and within 0.002 inch of
linear travel with a sample rate of 0.002 inch increments. 3. System
will include hardware for mounting, aligning and adjusting on the
inside surface of a cylindrical surface 144 +/- 2 inch diameter, by up
to 3 feet adjustable and will include a linear guide system with
automatic encoder triggering for accurate measurement of surface
contour variations. 4. System will include capability to transfer data
to removable media, in standard ASCII format. 5. System will be
protable, for use in field locations. QUANTITY: 1 EACH This procurement
is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP).
NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Origin Technology Corp.,
1871 Slaughter Road, Ste L, Madison, AL 35758. This recommendation is
made pursuant to FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The Government intends to acquire
a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have EIGHT (8)
days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the
identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such
qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of
determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive
basis. Responses received after the EIGHT (8) days or without the
required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis
and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not
compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis,
based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of
the Government. Oral communications are acceptable in response to this
notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be
considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See Internet
