Fjeld Company Incorporated under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b) Soliciting from a single source. This acquisition is for the redesign and replacement of motor stages, mirror assembly and sample mounting stages for the laser interferometer stage of the NIST AMRAY metrology scanning electron microscope. E. Fjeld Company is the designer and manufacturer of the current NIST custom designed laser interferometer stage, which is a component part of the NIST AMRAY Metrology instrument. The laser interferometer stage utilized designs proprietary to Fjeld Company and this requirement is for the redesign and replacement of some of the components of this stage including the motor stages. Therefore, E. Fjeld Company, as the original manufacturer of the NIST stage, is the only source who can fulfill this requirement. The Government anticipates the award of a firm-fixed price purchase order. The period of performance for this requirement is through September 15, 1999. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bonafide capability to fulfill the requirement.
