a) CBD Submission No. 310218, dated March 18, 1999, subject: M1A1
Abrams Tank Firepower Enhancements. b) CBD Submission No. 98007 and
98008, dated 20 Aug 1998, subject: sources sought Light Armored Vehicle
Service Life Extension Program. The Marine Corps Program Management,
Light Armored Vehicle (PM-LAV) office, is considering joining the M1A1
Abrams Tank Firepower Enhancements program (ref a). Specifically, the
PM LAV office is looking at the Thermal Sight segment of the M1A1
program and desires information addressing the feasibility of
integrating common hardware/components into the LAV-25 vehicle. The
LAV-25 fleet consists of 400+ vehicles. Potential sources may propose
rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost and technical data that would
include but are not limited to: 1) Optimum commonality with proposed
M1A1 thermal sights. 2) List of parts/LRUs in common with both systems.
3) Integration of an eye-safe Laser Range Finder. 4) Consideration to
meet LAV-25 turret space constraints. 5) Consideration of any other
known LAV-25 unique integration requirements (i.e., electrical system
differences, etc.). 6) Potential Wide and Narrow fields of View
including magnification. 7) Technology level (240x4, 480x4 or whatever)
and projected performance for Detection, Recognition and
Identification. "See notes: none". Submit information to US Army TACOM,
