Specialist, 215-656-6914 Maintenance Dredging will be performed at
various locations along the west end of the Chesapeake and Delaware
Canal and Upper Chesapeake Bay approach channel to the Chesapeake and
Delaware Canal from Station 89+000 to Station 250+440. Dredging in the
canal proper from Station 89+000 to Station 250+440 will be required
to a depth of 35 feet with one foot allowable overdepth permitted.
Dredging from Station 163+655 to Station 250+440 will be required to a
depth of 40 feet with a one foot allowable overdepth permitted. Work
areas will be limited by a vertical plane through the required depth
contour with no side or end slopes. Dredging will be performed to a
point extending 25 feet outside the channel edges (except in the canal
proper) when shoaling occurs along the channel edge within the
authorized channel limits. The work from Station 163+655 to Station
250+440 must be performed by Bucket Dredge only with placement by
bottom dump scows. Work in the channel proper may be performed by
Hydraulic Pipeline Dredge, Hopper Dredge, and/or Bucket Dredge.
Chesapeake City disposal area is proposed for material from the canal
proper. Overboard disposal area known as Site 92 in the Chesapeake Bay
shall be utilized for disposal of material removed from Station
163+655 to Station 250+440. One copy of the plans and specifications
will be furnished on CD-ROM to each bidder at no charge. Additional
copies will be furnished at a cost of $5.00 each. Bidders will be
responsible for paper copies. All requests for a solicitation package
should be in writing and sent to the attention of Michelle Bertoline.

a physical street address, telephone and fax number, Federal Tax
Identification Number and business size. Firms desiring additional
copies should forward a check payable to "USACE Finance Center,
Millington, to the above address. Your firm's Federal Tax
Identification Number must be written on the check, personal checks
must be annotated with the individuals Social Security number. Payment
will not be refunded and specifications need not be returned. Issue
date for solicitation documents will be on or about 20 July 1999 with
a bid opening date on or about 19 August 1999 at 11:00 a.m. Completion
time for this project is 180 calendar days. Estimated cost range of
the project is $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Award of the contract will be
made as a whole to one bidder. Liquidated damages will be specified.
Affirmative action to insure equal employment opportunity is applicable
to the resulting contract. In accordance with DFARS 204.7300, in order
to be eligible for award, contractors must be registered in the DOD's
Central Contractor Register. Instructions will be included in the
