E-MAIL: George M. Chavis, gchavis@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army
Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, Armament Research, Development
and Engineering Center, Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey, has a
requirement for an engineering study to incorporate the Micro-Electro
Mechanical Sensor System (MEMS) into the production of munitions such
as fuses. The subsequent report will provide an overview of the impact
of incorporating MEMS devices and micro sensor technology into the
assembly of electro-mechanical items such as fuzes. This evaluation is
aimed at production readiness support for conventional ammunition to
minimize costs. Consideration will be given to potential applications
to conventional munitions, and other Army systems and logistic systems.
The report shall identify and document special issues in the handling
of these devices and specific tooling and equipment required to allow
a facility to implement MEMS devices in an assembly line. Please be
advised that this is not a request for the submission of offers or
proposals, this is a request for information only; no contract award
will be made as a result of this notice. Interested parties are highly
encouraged to provide item descriptions, catalogues and brochures.
