necessary to replace the vinyl siding and asphalt shingle roofing at
the U.S. Coast Guard Family Housing Units located at Ft. Wadsworth,
Staten Island, NY. The Base Bid consists of work to be performed on two
townhouse buildings consisting of approximately 15,200 square feet of
new siding and 16,000 square feet of roofing. The solicitation shall
also include an additional five optional items authorizing the Coast
Guard to order five additional buildings to receive new roofing and
siding. This Invitation for Bids is being issued pursuant to the Small
Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is open to both
large and small business participation. This project including all
Optional Items is estimated between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The
applicable SIC Code is 1761. The tentative date for receipt of bids is
18 August 1999. Bid packages will be available on or about 19 July
1999 and may be obtained at a non-refundable charge of $32. Certified
Checks or money orders should be made payable to Commercial Blue Print
and Supply and mailed to the firm at: 83 Waverly Street, Jersey City,
NJ 07306. Do not send fees to the Coast Guard. For minority, women
owned and disadvantaged business enterprises: the Department of
Transportation (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working
capital and bonding assistance for transportation related contracts.
This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier.
The DOT bonding assistance program enables firms to apply for bid,
performance and payment bonds up to $1 million per contract. The DOT
provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses.
Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at
prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The
maximum line of credit is $500,000. For further information and
