mnace@bop.gov. The Federal Bureau of Prisons is seeking quotations to
provide the following types of less lethal munitions. CLIN 001: L-8
Multi Launcher; Operating System -- Revolver type spring motor driven
magazine with mechanically operated magazine stops. Safety -- Trigger
Lock. Out of line percussion cap to firing Trigger -- pull brings
percussion cap into line with firing pin before releasing hammer.
Capacity -- 6 shot maximum. All 37/38 mm ammunition up to 8 inches in
length. Overall Length -- Not more than 33 inches (composite stock).
Weight Unloaded -- 9 pounds. Barrel -- Length 9 inches, Smooth Bore.
Head space -- 0/150-0.154 inches. Ejection -- Shells drop out when
frame is opened and tilted downwards. Rate of Fire -- Maximum of six
rounds in three seconds. Quantity 113 Each. CLIN 002: Rubber Pellet
Round/High Velocity; Caliber -- 12 Gauge, Length -- 2.37 inches,
Projectiles -- 18 Rubber Balls -- not to exceed 21 Rubber Balls.
Velocity -- 900 feet per second. Maximum Effective Range -- Not less
than 60 feet. Warranty -- 4 years from date received by FBOP. Shell
Case -- Transparent. Submunition Specifications: Caliber -- 32,
Diameter -- 0.32 inches each, Material -- PVC Rubber Compound. Hardness
-- 75 Durometer "A" Scale. Weight -- 0.01 oz. each. Operation: Upon
firing, rubber balls are projected down range to target. Designed to be
direct fired. Quantity 470 cases (10 per case). CLIN 003: Rubber Ball
Grenades: Construction -- Rubber Ball Grenade Body. Explosive Compound
-- 8 grams flash powder. Diameter -- 3.1 inches. Length -- 5.2 inches.
Projectiles -- 180 Rubber Balls. Launchable -- Yes (may be launched by
12 gauge shotgun); Warranty -- 4 years from date received by the FBOP.
Submunition Specifications: Active Agent -- CS None, OC none, CN none.
Caliber -- 32. Pellet Hardness -- 75 Durometer "A" Scale. Explosive
Weight -- 0.28oz. Operation: Following the fuze operation, a one-second
delay separates the fuzeassembly from the body and an additional 1
second delay before charge detonates. Rubber balls are then dispersed
in an approximately 500 foot circular pattern. Quantity 126 cases (25
per case). The above quantities for each type of less lethal munition
shall be delivered to institutions within the Federal Bureau of Prisons
as identified in the delivery schedule of the solicitation. The
requirement will be solicited on an unrestricted basis, allowing both
small and large business to compete. Delivery shall be made within 30
calendars days of award. All interested parties shall forward a written
request for a solicitation to the address above or by fax at (202)
307-1146 to the attention of Matthew Nace, Contracting Officer.
Requests for a solicitation, shall include your company name, address,
telephone/ facsimile number, and the solicitation number. The
solicitation will be in the form of a Request for Quote. No telephone
requests will be accepted. The SIC code is 3484. The anticipated
solicitation issue dateis July 8, 1999. The anticipated closing date
for receipt of proposals is 2:00 P.M. EST. on August 10, 1999. All
responsible sources may submit a quote which shall be considered by the
