Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Attn: AM, 45045 Aviation Drive, Dulles, VA 20166-7517

A -- APPLICATION OF SPACE ENVIRONMENT ON NWE SOL DTRA01-99-R-0033 POC Daniel Bertuna, Contracting Officer, ph: 703-325-1197, fax: 703-325-9295; Donald L. Shires, Jr., Contracting Officer, ph: 703-325-6684. E-MAIL: "Click here to contact the negotiator via e-mail.", daniel.bertuna@dtra.mil. The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has a requirement to develop capabilities to model near earth space in an environment populated by one or more nuclear bursts, in particular, the formation, evolution, cross-field transport, and decay of nuclear trapped radiation belts. This objective is sought so that a prediction capability can be available. This will require fine tuning existing Integrated Space Weather Prediction Model (ISM) components and creating new ISM components to simulate WMD conditions. ISM will be converted to massively parallel computers to make run times more efficient. Nuclear phenomenology will be integrated into ISM to model nuclear effects in a true global context and nuclear burst simulations will be generated with the combined ISM/MEGS code. This effort will be a 100% Small Business Set-aside. See Note 1. The effort will require approximately 6 man-years to complete. A cost-plus-fixed-fee contract will be issued with an anticipated performance period of 48 months. Anticipated award date will be 30 September 1999. The Request For Proposal (RFP) will be issued 6 July 1999. Please submit all requests to Daniel Bertuna via fax or e-mail. Reference RFP DTRA01-99-R-0033. Posted 06/21/99 (W-SN345159). (0172)
