C -- CARBON RIVER BRIDGE DESIGN, WHITE RIVER RANGER DISTRICT, PIERCE COUNTY, WA SOL RFP R6-5-99-08-M DUE 071999 POC Contact Point: Bill Whitson, Contract Specialist (425) 744-3333 Professional design services for a single lane bridge, approximately 680 feet in length, crossing the Carbon River located approximately 12 miles southeast of Carbonado, WA (vicinity: northwest corner of Mt. Rainier National Park, Section 4, T. 17N, R. 9E). The design contractor shall provide (1) a hydrologic analysis of the crossing (2) preliminary design work for both steel and a prestressed concrete bridge alternatives, to include scour analysis work, preliminary drawings of bridge and substructure types, estimate of quantities, cost estimates, and expected construction schedules. Following the selection of bridge type, final work shall include all necessary design and computation needed to produce complete construction drawings, specificiations, and construction work schedules and estimates. Responding firms will be evaluated using criteria in numbered Note 24 along with the following: (1) specialized experience and technical competence in the type of work required, including where appropriate, experience in energy conservation, pollution prevention, waste reduction, and use of recovered materials; (2) available resources for performing hydrologic and detailed scour analysis work (including the associated necessary field work); (3) specific examples of both steel and concrete bridge design similar to that required of this project; and (4)proposed subcontracting with certified 8(a) or other small disadvantaged businesses. Interested firms are invited to submit their qualifications using Standard Forms 254 and 255 (see numbered Note 24 for more information).
