Item 0001: Corrosion control of pierside gantry crane. Qty 1 lot. Duration: September 29, 1999 through November 12, 1999; per written specifications/statement of work. All work will be performed at Blount Island. The project is estimated to be between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00. The general Scope of Work is as follows: (A) The project consists of the coating and encapsulation of the Gantry Crane operated by the U. S. Marine Command at Blount Island, Jacksonville, FL. The Gantry Crane is approximately 175 feet high and consists of the structural steel columns, beams, supports, catwalks, rails, stairs and supports, floor steel plates, tie rods, pipes and the two buildings complete with all appurtenances. Structural steel repair except for the house roofs and the galvanized floor grating is not inlcuded in this scope of work. (B) The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and means to perform the following coating and encapsulation work as required by this specification which includes surface preparation and application of the acrylic paint system of all steel and metal surfaces. (C) Paint exposed surfaces except where the paint schedules indicate that a surface is to remain natural. If the paint schedules do not specifically mention an item or a surface, paint the item or surface the same as similar adjacent materials or surfaces whether or not schedules indicate colors. If the schedules do not indicate color of finish, the Contracting Officer will select from standard colors and finishes available from the manufacturer. A formal site visit is scheduled for July 14, 1999 at 0900 and all potential bidders must be represented. Any bid received without representation at the formal site visit will be considered non-responsive.
