Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) intends to negotiate sole source with Chromofast, Inc., 2901 Hubbard Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48105, to provide an injection system needed for use as injector on Hewlett Packard 6890 GC (gas chromatograph) on high-speed GCMS (gas chromatograph mass spectrometer) system. The following specifications apply to the Fast GC injection device: (1) Injection bandwidth of 5 ms or less; (2) Cryotrap heating rate of 100,000 c/sec.; (3) capability to back flush first half of column while foreflushing second half of column with a mid column back flush valve; (4) Used with any standard 0.25 mm column or user selected tandem combination of columns; (5) Ability to trap compounds ranging in volatility from ethane up to C18 + hydrocarbons; (6) Ability to sample directly from a gas sample at ambient, sub-ambient or high pressure sources; (7) Software selectable sample collection size; (8) Limits of detection for benzene with an FID under 50 pjonarts-per-trillion with a duty cycle time under 80 seconds; (9) Supply two auxiliary heated zones for gas transfer lines; (10) Supply two control signals for valves or other external devices (control to 200 Hz or better); (11) No sample valves in sample flow path; (12) on site installation; (13) certification and (14) delivery within 60 days of order. The EPA believes that Chromatofast, Inc. is the only vendor capable of satisfying the requirements stated above. All interested parties must respond within 15 days of this announcement.
