The Social Security Administration (SSA), intends to negotiate with Bell and Howell Corporation, on a sole-source basis for preventive and on-call remedial maintenance services on six Government-owned Bell & Howell EI-10,000 Mail Systems, six Government-owned Bell & Howell Mailstar 500 Mail Systems and thirty Ascom/Hasler Mailing Machines located in the six SSA Program Service Centers (PSC's). The period of performance will be one year from the date of award with four one-year options, if exercised. Bell & Howell manufactures the EI-10,00 and Mailstar 500 Mail Systems and has licensed agents nationwide who are trained to sell and maintain this equipment. In addition, Bell & Howell has an agreement with Ascom/Hasler to maintain Ascom/Hasler Mailing Machines. Interested parties must respond to this notice within 15 calendar days from the date of this publication. When responding to this solicitation, respondents should refer to SSA-RFQ-99-3897. This is not a request for proposal or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Requests for copies of the solicitation in response to hereto will not be honored or acknowledged.
