BLAST MEDIA RECLAMATION AND DUST COLLECTION EQUIPMENT -- REQUEST FOR TECHNICAL AND COST INFORMATION The St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (Corporation) plans to purchase portable blast media reclamation and dust collection equipment. The Corporation is currently proceeding with preliminary designs for the following building and is requesting technical and cost information for budgetary purposes from companies who manufacture and/or sell equipment that would perform the functions stated below. Plans are to use this equipment during blast cleaning and painting operations both in a building which will have an area approximately 110 feet long x 40 feet wide x 24 feet high dedicated to these operations and in navigation lock chambers on lock gates during shutdown periods. The Corporation plans to utilize recyclable steel shot/grit to remove paint, rust and mill scale from steel items prior to repainting. No more than 3 blast nozzles will be operated at any one time. Reclamation equipment should include a means of collecting the used blast media for recycling. Dust collection equipment shall be sized for use in the building and work areas in the lock chamber will be set up to isolate smaller areas. When in use in the building, the ambient conditions can be controlled however, when the equipment is used down in the lock chamber, humidities will be very high. Plans are to operate all of the equipment from electric power sources available at the work sites, if sufficient power is available. Information provided shall define power requirements and what alternatives are available if sufficient power is not available. Equipment furnished must operate such that the work sites conform with applicable OSHA and EPA regulations for blast cleaning and painting operations. Paint being removed will contain lead. Alternative methods for accomplishing the aforementioned objectives will be considered. Information shall be forwarded to Linda M. Harding, Contracting Officer, St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, PO Box 520, Massena, NY 13662. Questions and/or requests for a site visit/meeting shall be directed to Thomas Lavigne, Chief Engineer at (315) 764-3251.
